Our company was founded by Carl Gottmann in 1937. Forty years later, in the 1970s, we became part by the German Anton Dürbeck GmbH . At those times, it was complicated for a foreign company to clear customs for import overseas fruit. That is why a collaboration with a Dutch organisation was very attractive for strategic reasons.
The acquisition by Dürbeck opened the doors to new ways of trading. Gottman grew strongly and focused on subtropical fruit and bulk products such as citrus fruits and grapes. We traded in South Africa, Latin America and the Middle and Far East.
We still frequently trade in these areas. The partnerships we have in these areas are often dozens of years old, therefore we know exactly what we can expect from these trading partners.
